8x8 Receives Three Contact Center Patents

8x8, a provider of enterprise communications as a service (ECaaS), has been awarded three new U.S. patents, bringing its total number of patents to 121.

The new patents issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) are the following:

  • U.S. Patent number 9,307,088, titled "Networked Contact Center," discusses among other things, a networked contact center with several platforms to host multiple tenants. It is part of a family of four other patents with issue dates between 2008 and 2014 related to 8x8's Virtual Contact Center ;architecture. This allows several platforms of networked contact centers to host multiple contact center tenants and ensures this data is handled securely within the architecture.
  • U.S. Patent number 9,306,985, titled "User-Configurable Data Storage," covers how a Voice over IP (VoIP) server can route calls and store data from a plurality of telecommunications devices. It enables various forms of data (voicemail, call recordings, and other captured data) generated by the user of an IP communications service to be propagated from a local server where the data is collected, to a remote server. It also updates user indices to that data so it will now refer to the remote server.
  • U.S. Patent number 9,338,221, titled "Systems and Methods for Distributed Conferencing," provides conference meeting content to remote participants in a distributed manner.
